Christmas Tree Recycling a success
Years ago, Christmas trees were tossed into the dump like any sort of common garbage, but that's not the case today. In modern times, Christmas trees are being recycled into beneficial mulch for state parks. They are also used in fisheries as habitat in lakes and ponds.
Programs in Denver reported that last year, they recycled more than 18,000 trees during their program. Denver's program starts tomorrow with high hopes that the number of trees will actually increase. In Montgomery, Alabama, they have already received more than 3,000 trees, even in below freezing temperatures during the collection time.
Recycling centers ask that artificial trees not be donated, as they are not useful in the creation of mulch. Also, plastic bags and tinsel, or any other type of decoration for that matter, are not permitted. For more information about a tree recycling center near you, just go to Earth911.com
