Christopher Lee Honored at the BAFTAs

The actor got the Academy Fellowship Award

Christopher Lee’s film career has spanned over 60 years. At last night’s BAFTA ceremony, he accepted the Academy Fellowship award honoring his achievements.

According to the BAFTA website, “the Fellowship is the highest accolade bestowed upon an individual in recognition of an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film.”

Tim Burton introduced and talked about Lee’s achievements before the actor was brought up on the stage. Burton has worked with Lee on several film projects including The Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Sleepy Hollow.

Lee has appeared in many classic roles including playing Bram Stoker’s creation, Dracula, in Horror of Dracula. He has also won recent fame by playing the wizard Saruman in The Lord of the Rings series and Count Dooku in Star Wars: Episode II and Star Wars: Episode III.

Lee expressed his thanks for receiving this award and said that it was something that he hadn’t expected, but was glad to accept.

Monsters and Critics reports that Lee was honored to be chosen for the award by his peers.
