Christopher Walken joins "Hairspray" film cast
Christopher Walken has agreed to play Wilbur Turnblad in the upcoming movie version of the popular play "Hairspray," according to playbill.com.
Variety had previously reported Moulin Rouge actor Jim Broadbent would play the role of Tracy Turnblad's father.
"Christopher Walken just signed to play Travolta's husband, and I'm happy about that," "Hairspray" co-lyricist Scott Wittman told playbill.com. He added there will be some changes to the film edition of "Hairspray."
"We've done three or four new songs for the movie."
The star-studded cast of the Adam Shankman-directed motion picture includes John Travolta as Edna Turnblad, Queen Latifah as Motormouth Maybelle, Amanda Bynes as Penny Pingleton, Zac Efron as Link Larkin, Brittany Snow as Amber von Tussel, Michelle Pfeiffer as Velma von Tussel, James Marsden as Corny Collins, Elijah Kelly as Seaweed and Nikki Blonsky as Tracy Turnblad, according to playbill.com.
