Church to Begin Tweeting Bible Story

Trinity Wall Street Church is set to post the Gospel of Mark on Twitter.

According to Newsday, Trinity Wall Street Church is set to publish the Gospel of Mark on Twitter.

The adapted script, broken into 18 parts, will begin to be posted starting Friday at noon. The script will be told from the perspective of six characters including Jesus, Mary Magdalene and Peter.

According to Linda Hanick, Trinity's vice president of communications and marketing, "What we are trying to do at Trinity Wall Street is to communicate the story of Christ in as many ways as we can."

The church has been conducting webcasts of events and services since the late 1990s.

"This was kind of the next evolution in communicating the gospel message," Hanick said.

The thought came to fruition during a meeting of the church's editorial staff after Christmas to talk about means the church could use to enter the realm of social networking. Besides creating a page on Facebook and a Twitter page, a member of the editorial staff floated the idea of tweeting the Passion of Christ story.

"That was it, and everyone thought it was a great idea," Hanick said.
