Claire Danes Spreads Her Wings in'Temple Grandin'
Claire Danes is starring in the new HBO film Temple Grandin. T
he film tells the story of an autistic animal behavior scientist who discovers a humane method to killing cattle. Considered a visual genius, Grandin is an iconic and heroic figure to the autistic community. Danes underwent extensive research in order to portray Grandin in the most accurate way.
Up until now, Danes has mostly found success in romantic roles attributed to her young age. Some of her previous roles include Romeo and Juliet, Evening, and the most recent Me and Orson Welles opposite High School Musical star Zac Efron. Her breakthrough role came in the critically acclaimed television series My So-Called Life.
In order to prepare for her performance, the actress took extensive time in order to adopt the scientist’s voice. Danes chose not to reveal her own depiction of Grandin’s voice to even Mick Jackson, the film’s director, until the first day of shooting. In addition, Danes refused to watch playbacks throughout the course of filming.
Temple Grandin premieres on February 6.
