The Clash: A Book
The Clash, along with the Ramones, are among one of the finest punk rock groups that ever existed. They had, after 20 years of dissolving and with a relatively short life span of ten years of existence, managed to remain vivid in the current musical landscape with their songs still being played through classic rock radios. The Clash, a 384-page book that tells the band's story through quotes from its members, has been just released.According to the Phoenix Times, though the Clash were certainly not the first punk band, they were arguably the genre's best exponent, not least because they refused to be pigeonholed by what anyone thought a punk band should be. Their music expanded to include the influence of rock, reggae, pop, funk and a then-nascent hip-hop during the band's run from 1976-1986.
The book captures live performances of the band and behind the scenes pictures with Robert De Niro back in 1980 while shooting Raging Bull.
