Clinton Might Pull Out of MSNBC Debate Because of Anchor's Comments
Hillary Clinton could pull out of MSNBC sponsored and hosted debates because of distasteful comments made by an MSNBC anchor regarding Chelsea Clinton, multiple sources report.
The comment in question was made by David Shuster, who said that the Clinton campaign was "pimping out" 27-year-old Chelsea by having her make phone calls on her mother's behalf to celebrities and "superdelegates."
Howard Wolfson, the Clinton communication director, called Shuster's comment "beneath contempt" and disgusting, CNN reports. He went on to say that he could not imagine a case where Clinton would make an appearance on the network which employs Shuster.
But MSNBC is taking steps to try to rectify the situation. Shuster has been suspended from appearing on air, except to apologize for his remarks, which he has done on numerous occasions.
The next MSNBC debate is scheduled to be held on February 26 in Ohio, with Ohio's primary being held on March 4. Even though the Clinton campaign has pushed for as many debates as possible, Wolfson said that Clinton's presence at MSNBC's debate is in serious jeopardy.
