Clive Davis will be attending Whitney Houston's funeral despite there being tension with Houston's family.
Houston's mentor has faced scrutiny from the singer's family, as well as Chaka Khan, for continuing with his pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel after Houston's body was found and was still in the hotel.
The Houston family felt that the party should not have continued.
"Even IF Whitney had given her blessing for the party to continue, even that doesn't make it ok. Her body was lying in a room upstairs, dead, for heaven's sake. It was simply in bad taste, period...," a source told Radar Online.
Davis' spokesperson explained, "Mr. Davis, who is mourning the loss of his beloved Whitney, has nothing but the utmost love and respect for the entire Houston family."
According to Radar Online, he felt that Houston would want the party to continue, so he "put on a brave face."
Chaka Khan was also furious at Davis' decision to continue.
“I don’t know what could motivate a person to have a party in the building where the person whose life he had influenced so enormously [had died],” Khan said, quoted by Pop Crush
Khan did not believe that Houston would have wanted the party to proceed.
Houston's funeral will take place on Saturday at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey. The funeral will be private, but it is set to air on television and online via a live stream.
Houston will be laid to rest next to her father at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey.
