Clooney's Not On Our Watch Program Donates Big to Darfur

George Clooney and Ocean Eleven star's organization donate big to help raise awareness in Darfur.

According to E! News, George Clooney's organization, which he started with Ocean's Eleven costars, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle and producer Jerry Weintraub, are donating big to raise awareness of the crisis in Darfur.

The organization, Not On Our Watch, recently donated $500,000 to the United Nations World Food Program.

"This is a critical time for the program," Clooney said in a statement Thursday. "Without immediate additional funding, humanitarian aid in the region will be crippled."

"We are proud to help ensure the survival of this lifesaving program and strongly encourage others to do the same. Protection of these victims should not fall solely in the hands of charitable organizations. Governments have a responsibility to help those who cannot defend themselves," Clooney added.

The Not On Our Watch program has raised more than $9.3 million for Darfur since its launch last year, according to E! News.

The $500,000 donation will go to assist the World Food Program's Humanitarian Air Service, which is responsible for organizing the plane and helicopter rides that supply the Darfur region with supplies and relief workers.
