Colbert's Celebrity Christmas Christening
Break out the tinsel and the tree. Put up the decorations and keep that one uncle away from the eggnog, because the television Christmas specials are already in the works. And to add to the list of classic Christmas presenters like Bing Crosby, Burl Ives, and Judy Garland we have . . . Stephen Colbert?
According to the New York Times, Colbert is working with Comedy Central to shoot a one hour Christmas program entitled, "A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All." But this won't just be your run of the mill special. It's a musical.
Stephen Colbert won't be the only singer on the dais. Lending their voices will also be Elvis Costello, John Legend, Willie Nelson, Feist, Toby Keith and Jon Stewart. That's right. Jon Stewart. Singing.
The plot of the special revolves around Stephen trying to drive upstate to meet Elvis Costello, but getting snowed in along the way. It's up to this all-star cast to assist Colbert and find a way to get him to Costello's house.
"A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All," will air on Comedy Central November 23, with a DVD release November 25. A share of the profit is going to Feeding America, a charitable organization.
