Coldplay Already Planning 2009 "Viva La Vida" Follow-Up

The band's "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" came out two months ago.

Coldplay is reportedly shooting for a 2009 release of their next album, just two months after their previous record was released.

This would be an amazing task for the band, who is currently selling out 20,000 seat stadiums around the world, to accomplish. This is especially the case, considering the length in which it took Coldplay to record Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends after X&Y.

And as is the case with most bands who take an extended break after recording, Coldplay already has many songs in the can from their previous recording sessions with producer Brian Eno.

"The majority of the follow-up is already in the can, though they will have to go back into the studio at some point to add a few more songs," a source close to the band tells the U.K.'s Daily Telegraph.

Chris Martin has also foreshadowed a potential record release in 2009, specifically talking in the context of the band's fruitful work with Kylie Minogue.

Stay tuned for more updates.
