Coldplay Repeats as Week's Top Album, but Motley Crue Comes in 4th
Coldplay once again reigned supreme over the U.S. pop chart for the second week in a row, but the news of the day was the solid performance of Motley Crue's first original album release in 11 years. Their record debuted at No. 4.
Coldplay's Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, the band's fourth album, moved 249,000 copies in the week which ended on June 29, according to Nielsen SoundScan data.
Lil' Wayne continued to impress with his Tha Carter III, which held strong at No. 2 by selling 209,000 copies. It was followed by the soundtrack to the Jonas Brothers' intensive soundtrack to the Disney Channel TV movie, Camp Rock, selling 169,000.
Motley Crue came in fourth on the week by selling 99,000 copies, which was their second highest gross total to date. Their first was 1989's Dr. Feelgood, which reached number one, and to date, has sold six million copies.
