Coldplay Still Fighting Satriani

The band is continuing litigation with guitarist Joe Satriani over the claim they stole one of his songs.

According to E! News, rock band Coldplay filed papers in a federal court, Monday, in connection with a claim of copyright-infringement guitarist Joe Satriani, 52, has filed against them.

In a Los Angeles court, the band claimed his song "lacked originality" and as such shouldn't receive any copyright protection. The band went on to state that any resemblance was so small that it should just be chalked up to coincidence.

In December, Satriani filed a suit claiming that Coldplay had used substantial portions of his song, "If I Could Fly," in their hit song, "Viva La Vida."

At that time, Coldplay put out a statement saying Satriani "did not write or have any influence on the song." The statement went on to say, "If there are any similarities between our two pieces of music, they are entirely coincidental and just as surprising to us as to him."
