Coldplay Won't "Pull a Radiohead" and Leave Label

The band enjoys being on a major label.

In the past, Coldplay and their frontman, Chris Martin, have praised the controversial moves of Radiohead and The Raconteurs for posting their albums on the Internet for free. But the band insists that they will not do the same with their future records.

Martin went on to say, in an interview with Reuters, that he enjoys being on major label EMI, but also said that it appeared inevitable (with the status of the music industry) that the band would eventually depart.

"Being on a major label at the moment is like living in your grandparents' house," Martin said. "Everyone knows they need to move out, and they will eventually, but we kind of like our grandmother."

The band is set to release their new album, titled Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, on June 12. Martin went on to comment on the distinct possibility that their new CD would be stolen.

"It's obviously an antiquated model (being on a major label), because of the Internet, but we love the people we work with. If we knew what the solution was to everything, then we'd do it."
