Comcast Launched Web Television Service

The cable company launched a service in which television is available for viewing online

Comcast launched the Web site’s online viewing option of television shows, reported The Associated Press.

The cable operator will be making the Web television service available to millions of subscribers.

The viewers will have to pay for high-speed internet and television in order to view the online programming.

Fancast Xfinity will allow subscribers to view full-length television shows from 27 networks via internet.

With the new addition Comcast became the first cable television operator to offer cable content at no additional cost.

Channels offered include HBO, Cinemax, Starz, CBS and Sundance.

Comcast is the top United States cable company.

On November the company told reporters it reached an agreement with General Electric Co., buying a controlling stake in NBC Universal.

The Web service will be available to subscribers to use at their home or with other computers and broadband services.

Comcast officials are working with Nielsen to determine if the viewing numbers could be added toward the program’s ratings.
