Comedian Artie Lange Hospitalized

According to a recent United Press International article, long-time comedian Artie Lange has been hospitalized in New Jersey. Representatives of Lange said they cannot specify the particular reason for his hospitalization.

According to his representatives, he wants to keep the particulars secret for the time being, saying that it is between him and his doctor. He has not preformed on the Stern show since early December, and has also canceled his stand-up comedy appearances.

Lange was recently charged with driving under the influence in 2009 in connection with prescription sleeping pills. It has been well known since his days at the Fox show MadTV that he has had issues with substance abuse in the past. He admitted himself to an intensive outpatient rehab facility as early as last year.

Stern's show is still on holiday break and will return on Monday, hopefully with some details as to Lange's hospitalization.
