Comic-Con Gets a Peek at "Iron Man 2"
Superhero fans were in for a treat Saturday at San Diego's Comic-Con. Attendees that were in the San Diego Convention Center's largest assembly hall were treated to a clip from "Iron Man 2."
Director Jon Favreau thanked the fans before playing clip, saying that, "Nobody cared before you guys did." The clip contained Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury, fighting with Scarlett Johansson, who plays the Black Widow. The two had previously starred together in Frank Miller's "The Spirit."
The clip also showed Sam Rockwell as weapons expert Justin Hammer, a heavily tattooed Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko, who becomes Whiplash, and Don Cheadle as Col. James Rhodes previously played by Terrance Howard who becomes War Machine. There were also quick images of War Machine's suit and Whiplash's costume with its electrically-charged whips.
Robert Downey Jr, Cheadle, Rockwell, and Johansson were also present. "Iron Man 2" is set to hit theaters in May 2010.
