Comic Impressionist and Entertainer Fred Travelena Dead at 66

Comic and impressionist Fred Travelena, who achieved prominence in the 1970s and '80s with his mimicry of Hollywood luminaries and political figures alike, has died in Los Angeles at the age of 66, according to the Associated Press.

Travelena apparently died Sunday at his California home, following a bout with recurring non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, which the entertainer had first been diagnosed with in 2002.

His impressions and comedy act propelled him to fame and made him a staple of the late-night talk show circuit, most notably Johnny Carson's "Tonight" show. He also made numerous comedic guest appearances on the game show, "Match Game," hosted by Gene Rayburn.

Funeral plans were not announced at press time.
