Coming Soon - Google TV

With Google being as popular as it is, it was only a matter of time before it expanded into the living room. Google, in collaboration with Sony, Intel, and Logitech, is working to bring a platform for Internet-enabled TV, called Google TV.

Google TV has been in the works for several months now and is based on Google’s Android software. Logitech is working on providing devices to complement the new platform such as a small keyboard.

According to a report by the New York Times, one of the aims of the project is to make it easy for people to use Web applications such as Twitter or Facebook on their TVs. This is also to encourage software companies to make applications compatible with Google TV.

Testing has begun with a prototype set top box with Dish Network. Future TVs may have the technology built right in. Actual consumer products may appear as early as this summer.
