Composer Hans Zimmer to tackle his first video game project
Oscar winning composer Hans Zimmer is bringing his unsurpassed talent for creating memorable music in hit movies to a whole new medium, video games.
Zimmer's first video game project will be scoring the soundtrack for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," one of the year's most awaited releases.
According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, "The sequel to the first-person action best-seller 'Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare' comes from Activision Blizzard's Infinity Ward studio and hits stores Nov. 10." It can be played on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and even on Microsoft Windows.
Zimmer's gift for musical composition has made him one of the most sought after composers in the film industry. Zimmer's credits include such notable films as 1991's "Driving Miss Daisy," 1995's "Crimson Tide," 1996's "The Rock," 2000's "Gladiator," 2006's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," 2007's "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," 2008's "The Holiday" and 2009's "Angels & Demons." He won an Oscar for Best Original Score in 1994 for "The Lion King" and was nominated for Best Original Music or Comedy Score Oscar in 1997 for "As Good as it Gets." Zimmer's upcoming movie projects include the Guy Ritchie-directed "Sherlock Holmes," which will star Rachel McAdams, Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law, and the Christopher Nolan-directed "Inception," which will star Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Michael Caine.
