Conan O’Brien Ends Speculation, Reveals Name of TBS Late-Night Show

O’Brien’s late-night show on TBS will premiere November 8

Throughout the summer, members of Team Coco have speculated about the name of Conan O’Brien’s upcoming TBS late-night show. They threw out an assortment of possible options, including The Coco Show, Up Late with Conan, The Not Quite as Late as the Rest of Those Guys Show with Conan O’Brien, and An Hour of Violent, Misogynist Irish Drinking Songs.

O’Brien put an end to the speculation on Wednesday by announcing the name of his late-night show on Team Coco’s YouTube page and New York Magazine’s Vulture blog. In a two-minute video featuring O’Brien seated at his desk in a crummy office, the popular comedian said, “I wanted one word that captured my essence, and Oprah was already taken.”

“They wanna know, I’ve got the answer. I’ve spent millions of dollars. I’ve had media, research companies, we’ve had thousands of people working ‘round the clock, and we have got it. Drumroll, please [drumroll sound]. That’s more of a cat purring, sorry. And ... bang! Here it is...”

O’Brien revealed the name of his show by writing it on a piece of paper and displaying it to the camera. It turns out that he opted for simplicity by aptly titling his TBS series Conan. It will be his third late-night gig since he spent 17 years at NBC as the host of Late Show and Tonight, according to the NY Daily News.

Conan is scheduled to premiere on TBS November 8 and he will be paired with George Lopez’s Lopez Tonight.
