Conan O’Brien made a surprise appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night, his first time back at NBC since leaving his position as host of The Tonight Show last year.
AceShowBiz reports the 48-year-old comedian, who hosted Late Night for 16 years, was warmly welcomed by his successor, as well as the audience.
Fallon asked O’Brien why he returned to his former studio, to which O’Brien replied, “I was back in New York, and decided I wanted to check out my old studio."
Fallon also asked the former host what made him leave NBC, saying, “You were here for 16 years and then…what happened?”
“Don’t you worry about that, you’re a young guy. It all worked out fine,” O’Brien told Fallon.
O’Brien left Late Night in 2009 to replace Jay Leno on The Tonight Show, which he hosted only for seven months before the show was given back to Leno after controversy over the show's time slot and poor ratings.
O’Brien didn’t just stop by to say hello, however.
He was on a quest to find something important to him, which turned out to be Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, who was found behind a pillow on Fallon’s couch.
