Conan's Ratings on the Rise

Perhaps all NBC's effective firing of Conan O'Brien isn't such a bad thing for him, after all? The Hollywood Reporter reports that, for the first time, The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien is beating out the prime-time The Jay Leno Show, thanks in large part to the controversy between O'Brien and NBC. Viewers have increasingly been tuning in to O'Brien's show to hear what he and co-host Andy Richter will say next against the network, who they claim stabbed them in the back.

Last Thursday, Conan doubled his viewership and drew in a 1.9 in the adult demographic, while Leno pulled in a 1.5 during his tenure on the show in the same timeslot. That isn't to say that NBC will recognize this as a sign that they should keep the betrayed host, but fans have obviously been rallying behind Mr. O'Brien.

The controversy surrounding the late night talk show host could bode well for any future plans. With Conan rumored to move on to Fox and host a new show on the channel that nurtured him as a writer on The Simpsons, perhaps these fans would be willing to follow him to the network in a show of solidarity and stick it to NBC and Leno, showing them where their loyalties should've been?
