Contestant Already Disqualified from 'Idol'?

A father's slip of the tongue could disqualify his son from the show.

Hollywood week hasn’t even begun on this year’s American Idol and already there is talk of contestants being disqualified. Each new season of Idol brings its own share of rumors and controversies. Michael Lynche of St. Petersburg, Florida, is the first contestant potentially disqualified from the show’s ninth season. Lynche’s possible disqualification comes after his father let it slip to a Florida newspaper that his son already placed in the top 24. As one can guess, the Idol producers severely enforce confidentiality agreements with each of the contestants.

Despite these reports of Lynche’s disqualification, there is still a possibility he will be able to compete. Perhaps the Idol producers will show lenience because it wasn’t the young man’s own doing that revealed the spoiler. Furthermore, the story has yet to be confirmed despite all the initial reports from various websites and blogs. Also, Lynche’s audition tape still remains on the show’s website. This could possibly confirm he is still in contention for the show’s top prize.

This season of American Idol has already been going through drastic changes. Paula Abdul was dropped from the show and will be replaced during Hollywood week by comedienne Ellen DeGeneres. Furthermore, news broke that notorious judge Simon Cowell will be leaving the show after this season.
