Convicted Felon Robert "Joe" Halderman Nominated For an Emmy

Meanwhile, David Letterman is left in the dust.

Television news producer Robert Joel “Joe” Halderman, who was convicted of attempting to blackmail David Letterman, has been nominated for an Emmy Award for work he did on CBS’s 48 Hours Mystery.

Meanwhile, David Letterman’s late-night talk show was not nominated for an award for the first time since the show’s creation.

Halderman is nominated for the News and Documentary Emmy Award for work he did producing "American Girl, Italian Nightmare" on the CBS show 48 Hours Mystery. The piece was about a U.S. exchange student, Amanda Knox, who was charged with murder in Italy, according to The Washington Post. He is one of four producers nominated for the story for best continuing coverage of a news story.

The 52-year-old, who was fired by CBS News, began to serve his jail time in May after admitting two months earlier that he had attempted to blackmail David Letterman for $2 million. Halderman said he had gathered information about affairs Letterman had in the past with female show staffers.

This particular Emmy will be awarded on September 27 in New York City.
