‘Cougar Town’ recap: 'Lonesome Sundown'

Jules is worried because there is a strong likelihood that Travis could propose to Kirsten to keep her from going to Chicago. Jules wants Grayson to try to connect more with Travis because they always fight with each other. She thinks that Travis needs to be able to count on Grayson.

The gang is talking about how and where they live. They make fun of Jules’s lifestyle, so they dare her to try to rough it and stay on Bobby’s boat for a few days.

Grayson meets Travis and Travis’s roommate, Kevin, at his bar. It’s clear that Grayson is trying to force a friendship with Travis. Grayson grabs a list that Travis is making. It has champagne and ring on it, so Grayson realizes that Travis really does want to propose to Kirsten. He tries to call Jules, but Travis takes his phone. He then tries to get out of the bar, but Kevin tackles him.

Jules is making Ellie stand on top of a building near Bobby’s boat. Meanwhile, Bobby is getting Jules set up for spending the weekend on his boat. He gives her only one towel when she usually uses four. She gets $20 to last her for the weekend, but she leaves and quickly comes back after spending it all on a bottle of wine.

Jules is trying to get Grayson to join her on the boat, but he passes on the offer. Travis is holding Grayson’s phone while he talks, and he and Kevin are holding Grayson hostage in his own bar. Grayson tells Travis that he’s still young and shouldn’t rush into marriage.

Everyone is having coffee on Bobby’s boat since they usually do it at Jules’s house. Jules asks Bobby how he spent the night at her house. He and Andy were sumo wrestling in Jules’s living room in her towels. They decide to punish Bobby for this, but they don’t tell him what his punishment is. It turns out that there is no punishment, but they just want him to anxiously wait to figure out what it is.

Travis tells Grayson that he wants to get the engagement ring sized before he proposes. Grayson gives Kirsten a drink from Travis, and she starts to tell him how she’s freaking out about going to Chicago. However, she’s looking forward to it, and it seems like she’s ready to move on.

Andy forgets he’s supposed to be doing something with Ellie, and she’s been waiting outside in the car. His punishment is to sit in the hot car for an hour. While outside, everyone catches Jules as she tries to come home to take a shower. They send her back to Bobby’s boat.

When Travis comes to get his ring from Grayson, Grayson says that he lost it, however, it’s in his t-shirt pocket. Grayson tries to run out of the room, but Kevin tackles him again. Grayson breaks the news to Travis that he thinks Kirsten will say no if he proposes.

Jules calls Ellie to come and get her off of Bobby’s boat. Someone is walking around below the boat. It’s a bum who steals Jules’s bottle of wine. Ellie comes to see her and tells Jules that she has to stay on the boat because she made a side bet with Andy that Jules would be able to stay on the boat for the time period.

Jules and Grayson are sitting on the beach, but Grayson sees Travis about to propose to Kirsten. He tries to get Jules to leave before he proposes, but she notices what he’s doing. She can’t believe that Grayson knew that Travis was going to propose, but he tells her to just watch quietly. When Travis proposes, Kirsten runs away. She tells him that she loves him but not as much as he loves her.
