Could Matthew Broderick be returning as Ferris Bueller in Super Bowl ad? (Video)

We have already seen one teaser for a Super Bowl advertisement, but it was pretty clear who was behind that one. Now, a new preview was mysteriously uploaded on YouTube Thursday, showing Matthew Broderick possibly reprising his role in the classic 1986 John Hughes film, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The ten-second clip did not show what company it was meant to promote and it was not uploaded by any particular company’s YouTube account.

ABC News reports that in the clip, Broderick is shown wearing a bathrobe and looking straight into the camera. He asks, “How can I handle work on a day like today?” much like a line in the film when he asks, “How can I possibly be expected to handle school on a day like this?”

The video ends with the date of the Super Bowl, Feb. 5, and a short clip of Yello’s “Oh Yeah,” the classic ‘80s song used throughout Ferris Bueller.

According to The Wahsington Post, the video was uploaded by a brand new YouTube account called “chuckachucka2012,” a clear reference to “Oh Yeah.”

The video is made a clear homage to the original film, complete with Broderick breaking the fourth wall and speaking directly to the audience. While it is cool to see, there are so many questions yet to be answered, with the major one being who exactly is this promoting? Maybe it’s for a bathrobe company, since Broderick sure looks comfy in that robe. It could be for a hotel chain, since that room behind him looks awfully nice. Whatever the answers, fans of Ferris Bueller will be on the edge of their seats to see what Ferris has been doing for the past 25 years.

You can watch the teaser, which is simply titled “Coming Soon,” below:
