2011 was the year of Adele, but country music made a lasting impression when it came to music in 2011. Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts and Lady Antebellum all landed on the top of album charts in 2011.
RTT News reported that even though Adele topped the charts with her album, 21, Taylor Swift was a close second with her album, Speak Now. Swift is also enjoying success with her latest single, “Ours,” which is rising on the charts currently. Jason Aldean came in fourth place on the charts with his album, My Kinda Party.
Lady Antebellum took the 19th spot on the chart with their album, Need You Now, which was released back in 2010, and the album was still on the charts for all of 2011.
Zac Brown Band, Keith Urban and the Band Perry also made the Billboard top 2011. The Band Perry also had one of the most downloaded singles of 2011 with their hit single, “If I Die Young.”
Voice of America reported that country music sales went up in 2011. Sales increased over four percent overall. VOA News also added that many country artists had crossover success onto other charts and this helped to boost sales. Many country artists are planning on releasing new music for 2012.
