Country Singer Violates Probation Terms

Singer Mindy McCready arrested at Nashville Airport

Country singer Mindy McCready is back making headlines, but not for her music. The one-time country star was arrested at Nashville International Airport on the charge that she violated her probation, writes BBC News. McCready is facing battery charges as well as resisting arrest in Florida this past Sunday. Mindy McCready, 31, is known for her single "Guys Do It All the Time," but has not put out an album since "Mindy McCready," which met with lackluster sales and ended her contract with Capitol Records. This was back in 2002. Since then, McCready has apparently been occupying herself with a string of run-ins with the law.

The singer was convicted in 2004 of fraudulently obtaining prescription painkillers. The resulting probation is the one that she has now violated, says Deputy District Attorney General Derek Smith. But this isn't the first time McCready has butted heads with the law since her probation began, either. In May of 2005, she was charged with driving under the influence, a charge she was eventually acquitted of. She did, however, get slapped with driving with a suspended license. This was one of two incidents which prompted authorities to issue a warrant for the star's arrest in late summer of 2005. A month later, McCready revealed that her troubles run even deeper, admitting in a courtroom that she had attempted suicide after discovering she was pregnant.
