Some of the biggest names in country music came together at a telethon benefitting Nashville, TN.

Organized by Great American Country Television the telethon was able to raise $1.5 million to help Nashville recover from flooding earlier this month, according to ABC News.

Nearly 2,000 homes were damaged or destroyed during the flood, leaving around 2,600 people seeking temporary shelter. Damages are estimated at $1.5 billion and climbing.

Country music suffered a blow in the flooding as well. The Grand Ole Opry has been stripped to its foundation and the famous country music stage was destroyed.

Some instruments and other artifacts were salvaged and are being restored.

The first artist to take the stage was Brad Paisley. Paisley was also the first large donation of the night, pledging $100,000.

The people of Nashville have not lost their spirit. The rowdy crowd showed that Nashville is still standing.

The telethon also featured performances from Keith Urban, Martina McBride, Lady Antebellum, Sheryl Crow, and Dierks Bentley.
