Court Hearing for Michael Jackson's Doctor Set for January 2011
In Los Angeles Monday, a judge set the date for a preliminary hearing that will see prosecutors lay out some of the evidence against Conrad Murray, the doctor charged in Michael Jackson's death, according to the Associated Press.
The hearing, scheduled to begin on January 4 in Los Angeles, is expected to last at least two weeks.
Once the prosecutors submit their evidence, Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor will determine if there is enough evidence to order cardiologist Conrad Murray to stand trial.
Murray is being accused of administering a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol to Jackson back in June 2009.
He pleaded not guilty to the involuntary manslaughter charge related to the death of the “King of Pop.”
Murray's attorneys have said the doctor did not give the late Jackson anything that should have killed him.
His defense team includes attorney J. Michael Flanagan, who previously was successful at defending a nurse accused of administrating a lethal dose of the same powerful anesthetic linked to Jackson’s overdose.
Murray is due back in court on October 26 for another status hearing.
