Cousin Vinny Got America Ferrera Into Acting
Ugly Betty star America Ferrera cites the comedy film "My Cousin Vinny" with inspiring her to become an actress, WENN reports.
When the actress was young, she was sent away to a law camp, as her parents hoped she might pursue a career in this area. However, the learning methods used at the camp would evoke something very different.
During one of the classes, the 1992 film "My Cousin Vinny", starring Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei was screened. "You do mock trials and they take you for a day at the court. One of my favorite parts of law camp was when they showed us 'My Cousin Vinny'. They said, 'Here's what it's like to be a lawyer,'" explains Ferrera.
But the young girl soon realized that she did not wish to emulate the careers of those on the screen, but the actors who portrayed these professions. "When my favorite part of law camp was watching 'My Cousin Vinny,'" recalls Ferrera, "I realized, maybe I don't really want to be a lawyer, maybe I just want to act like a lawyer."
