Cowboys Stadium opens as a Venue

Stadium transformed into theatre.

Usually reserved for events of the sporting type, the Dallas Cowboys Stadium has opened for the first time as a venue for music artists. The first bout of fans to enter the stadium were about 60,000 strong to see the headlining performances that included country stars Reba McEntire and George Strait, according to NECN.com.

The first gig at the refurbished stadium may be the largest venue event in the history of Arlington Texas and certainly one of the biggest for Texas recently, reports KHOU.com. Apparently, the amount of parking for the event had to be taken into serious consideration, as space in neighborhoods became designated for parking; and lots for cars were also announced on local highways and streets.

Arlington resident Geraldine Trostel was one in favor of the tax increase in the city that allowed for the modifications for the stadium although she knew it would harp on personal finances.

Despite all the hubbub, the first ever concert was a success.
