Crawford and husband marked in extortion scheme
Former supermodel Cindy Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber, were the targets in an extortion plot. The alleged extorter threatened to leak a shocking photograph of the couple's 7-year-old daughter if not paid $100,000.
Edis "Eddie" Kayalar is the suspect in question who authorities believe is the man behind the scandal. Kayalar was deported to Germany, due to visa issues. Even after being sent back to Germany, he still demanded the money or he would release the photo to the public.
The photograph Kayalar was in possession of came from an acquaintance, who was also a former nanny of the couple. In the photograph, the Gerber's 7-year-old daughter is wearing revealing clothing, bound to a chair and gagged.
In court documents, the child admitted that the nanny took the photo as part of a "cops and robbers" game they were playing. Crawford claims the photo was taken without her knowing.
Kayalar has been charged with one count of felony extortion.
According to People.com, "The Gerbers intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph."
