Criminal Intent Stars Sign On With No Raises
The Law & Order shows are some of the most successful dramas on television. Law & Order: Criminal Intent, was recently "on the bubble," as many in the industry call it, which means the network wasn't sure if they would pick it up for another season. After a long wait, the fans found out that the show would come back, but on another network. The program, which has been on NBC for the last six seasons, will relocate to their sister network USA. This change of venue has created a bit of a problem when it came to salary negotiations. Typically, lead actors and actresses on a series get at least a five percent raise every year. Since the Law & Order franchise has had to cut its budget, some crew members are taking five to 10 percent cut in pay, the actors were not offered raises. The news disappointed the stars of the show, Vincent D'Onofrio, Chris Noth and Kathryn Erbe, and they were reluctant to return to the set for the fall season. In the end, the show's stars accepted their offer, with no raise, and agreed to sign on for another year. They were understanding of the show's financial constraints on the series due to the move to a smaller network.
