Critics Choice Awards, Winners, Losers And Even A Toss-Up
The Critics Choice Awards, hosted by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, chose their picks last night to honor the great films of this year. As expected, "Avatar" has taken many of the awards, with six awarded out of nine nominations.
Best Picture went to "The Hurt Locker", as well as Best Director to Kathryn Bigelow over "Avatar," snubbing the Oscar's predicted pick. Best Actress was a tie between Meryl Streep for "Julie & Julia" and Sandra Bullock for "The Blind Side." Best Acting Ensemble went to "Inglourious Bastards," and Best Young Actress went to Saoirse Ronan, for "The Lovely Bones."
"Avatar" won six out of nine nominations, including Best Sound, Cinematography, Visual Effects, Art Direction, Ending and Best Action Movie. We'll see what the Oscars have to say on that in March.
The hilarious "The Hangover" won Best Comedy, and Jeff Bridges won Best Actor for "Crazy Heart." "District 9's" amazing makeup effects won for Best Makeup.
