Crocodile Hunter Documentary to Air This Month
Four months after Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray off the Australian coast, the Discovery Channel is set to air Ocean's Deadliest, the documentary Irwin was filming before the accident, on Jan. 21.
The documentary is made up of footage recorded prior to Irwin's death, and will not include any footage taken from the date of the accident.
"The documentary was commissioned, we finished it and it's going to air," said Irwin's friend and manager, John Stainton. "It's been a long and arduous saga...an emotionally charged time to do an edit on a documentary that did have a deadline, and we did have to honor that deadline."
A tribute special will air just before Ocean's Deadliest. Animal Planet will broadcast the documentary after its Discovery Channel premiere.
In the meantime, Irwin's eight-year-old daughter, Bindi, is preparing for the premiere of her Discovery Kids show, Bindi, the Jungle Girl, with a publicity tour, starting this week in Washington, D.C. She will also make appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Late Show with David Letterman.
