Cruise Has Big Surprise in Store for His Wife, Katie Holmes's, Birthday
On Thursday, actress Katie Holmes will turn 30, and her husband, Tom Cruise, has told Access Hollywood that he has something "special" planned for her on this milestone of a birthday.
"We're gonna celebrate, I'll be here in the morning with her," Cruise told Access on Monday night at the premiere of his new film, Valkyrie, in New York City.
For better or worse, the initial "special" event he has planned will take place early in the morning on Thursday; Cruise is due at the Los Angeles premiere of Valkyrie later that night, and Holmes must remain in New York City for the evening for a performance of her hit Broadway show, Arthur Miller's All My Sons.
Although Cruise was reticent on the details of his plan, he revealed that he had something surprising and rare for her in store; "I've got some special things . . . that I have in store for her," Cruise said. "It's gonna be a great day for her."
As if having married the highly successful Holmes wasn't enough, Cruise was treated to further public adoration for his family. His daughter, Suri Cruise, made Access Hollywood's Best Dressed list of 2008. "Oh is she?" Cruise asked, smiling, when Access informed him.
While Cruise said that he loves that his 2-year-old enjoys wearing dresses, they've tried to mix up her wardrobe. "[One] morning, Kate got her into a pair of pants, but they didn't last long," Cruise said.
