The Cruisesters

As I sat in the waiting room at Saving Faces Skin Care, an upscale salon which gives the best facials in Los Angeles, I picked up one of those gossip mags and began reading about Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise.

"I feel badly for Katie Holmes," I said to Saving Faces' owners, Shawna and Jen.

Laughing, they both simultaneously asked, "WHY????" Jen continued, "she auditioned for the role of Tom's babies' mama."

Dumbfounded, I replied, "Do what?"

They went on to explain that Tom held auditions, where he invited three, up and coming young actresses - Scarlett Johanson, Jessica Alba and Katie Holmes to an exclusive rendezvous. As rumor would have it, he flew each girl in by private jet to the Santa Monica airport and had dinner with them, individually. They met his kids and discussed their future in entertainment. Supposedly, Cruise was looking for a girlfriend/Mom and in return, he would give them mega bucks and a blooming career.

"No way!" I said.

The girls shrugged, stating that this "rumor" was confirmed and that's all they were able to tell me. Just like the LA hairstylists, facialists follow strict codes of confidentiality, too. Anyway, I know this is a liberal town but living amongst the Hollywood stars, when you hear this kind of info, it's like hearing that your next door neighbor, Mr. Jones held auditions for his future wife and mother of his children. It's just too weird!

That being said, I didn't totally buy it. However, as the Tom-Katie saga progresses, I'm starting to wonder if this rumor is actually legit. According to the 'Daily Mail,' Cruise and Holmes have signed a 22 million prenuptial and an 8 million trust has already been set up for Holmes and the couple's 2-week-old daughter, Suri.

With the financial arrangement finally agreed upon after months of negotiations between Cruise's lawyers and Holmes' father (a divorce solicitor), the wedding date has been set for July, per 'Daily Mail.'

Along with Cruise changing his fiancee's name from Katie to Kate, he has told her that he wants his wife to be "the most beautiful bride ever." Having just given birth to their baby, Holmes' has frantically hired fitness firm Buff Bridges to help her lose all the weight for their wedding.

Now, I still am unsure as to what is true and what is false in this Cruise-Holmes relationship but even after watching Cruise repeatedly refer to his wife as "Kate" on Letterman's "Late Show," something just didn't feel right. It's as if the relationship is coated with a film. And the way Cruise is appearing to be a dictator over KATIE, I don't know, man.

In several recent interviews, Cruise mentioned that his pop was unbearably controlling but hello.... If this isn't an example of 'like father, like son,' I don't know what is...
