CSI Star Peterson Signs New Contract With CBS

The actor receives a one year extension.

William Peterson, who stars as Gil Grissom on CBS's long running hit "CSI: Las Vegas," will return for at least one more year.

The actor signed a new deal with CBS Paramount Network TV that will keep him on board through the 2008-09 season. If he hadn't resigned, his current contract would have expired at the end of this May.

His new deal gives Peterson the ability to take time off because he won't star in every episode of the season, according to Variety. This is much different from Peterson's past contract where he has starred in nearly every episode. The reason for his absence is to work on other non-TV projects.

Peterson is currently one of the highest paid actors working on television, with his annual salary well into the eight-figure range.

CBS Paramont declined to comment to Variety in regards to the specifics of Peterson's contract.
