Cubs Hire Hitting Coach Jaramillo
The Cubs, looking to improve their offense, hired veteran hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo.
Looking to improve their offense, the Chicago Cubs have hired hitting coach Rudy Jamarillo, formerly of the Texas Rangers, reports USA Today. Jamarillo has spent the last 15 years with the Rangers, but declined a one-year offer from the club for next season.
According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Jamarillo, 59, has a reputation as one of the best hitting coaches in all of baseball, as evidenced by the solid hitting by the Texas Rangers lineup during his tenure with the club.
During his time with the team, "The Rangers recorded 13 consecutive seasons of 800-plus runs scored, the longest streak by any major league team since the New York Yankees accomplished the feat in 17 straight seasons (1926-42)."
