'Dallas' will be on TV once again

By Alina Lakhdhir,

Dallas will once again hit the small screen next summer.

The series played on television from 1978 until 1991, according to USA Today. Next summer, a new season will premiere on TNT, featuring series originals Larry Hagman (J.R.), Patrick Duffy (Bobby), and Linda Gray (Sue Ellen).

There will also be a few new faces as well. The new cast features Jordana Brewster from Fast and Furious, as well as Jesse Metcalfe and Brenda Strong from Desperate Housewives.

So, what happened that influenced the production company to develop another season?

“TNT has explored the possibility of an updated version of Dallas for several years, but it wasn’t until we read Cynthia Cidre’s outstanding pilot script that we knew we had the foundation for a great new series,” Michael Wright, the executive vice president and head of programming for TNT, TBS, and Turner Classic Movies, said in a statement.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, viewers will be able to see a sneak peak of Dallas on Monday during the season premieres of The Closer and Rizzoli & Isles.
