Dame Shirley Bassey Out of Hospital
Dame Shirley Bassey, elder singer known for hits such as "Goldfinger" and "Big Spender," has been released from a Monaco hospital, where she has been recuperating from stomach surgery, BBC News reports.
The 71-year-old singer was admitted into the hospital last week, when she complained of stomach pains during the middle of the night. Bassey, who was made a Dame in 1999, is doing well and is even set to perform at Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday concert, which takes place in late June at Hyde Park.
A spokesperson for the singer, Paul Carey, assured that Bassey is now "resting up and on the road to a full recovery."
Bassey has been enjoying chart success since the 1950s. Some of her hits include "Big Spender," "Goldfinger," and "History Repeating." The theme songs to three James Bond movies can also be attributed to her.
A gig last year at the Glastonbury festival revealed Bassey to still be the life of the party. She apparently showed up in diamond-encrusted wellington boots.
