Dan Brown's "The Lost Symbol" is now an e-book
Dan Brown, author of "The DaVinci Code" and "Angels and Demons" is releasing a new novel entitled "The Lost Symbol." But for those tech-savvy people, Brown's new novel will be released as an electronic novel on September 15, the same day the hardcover version is supposed to hit the shelves.
Doubleday announced in April that "The Lost Symbol" was set to be released on September 15, but did not say whether an e-book would be released. According to MSNBC, the hesitation about whether an e-book should be released "led to speculation that the publisher was concerned that digital sales, a quickly rising market, would cut into purchases of the more expensive hardcover."
Doubleday spokeswoman Suzanne Herz said that the main issue was not about sales, but rather "security and logistical issues," MSNBC reported. The book's first printing will involve five million copies and is "under embargo until its publication date."
