Dana Delany Turned Down Carrie Bradshaw Role

She had her reasons though.

Dana Delany, who can currently be seen on Desperate Housewives, recently said that she turned down the role of Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City because she was tired of talking about sex.

The actress said that the timing was wrong with her appearing in the HBO show because she had just done the 1994 comedy movie, Exit to Eden.

"The producer of Sex and the City, Darren Star, was an old friend of mine and he talked to me about it," Delany recently said. "But I had just played Mistress Lisa in Eden and people reacted badly to it. I had been America's sweetheart and they (the public) just didn't want to see me in that role. So I said, 'Darren, I just can't talk about sex one more time.' So Sarah Jessica Parker made it her own."

But Delany doesn't seem to be too bitter, saying that it wouldn't have been as good of a show without Parker.

"I wouldn't have been the fashion icon that she was. It would have been a completely different show and who knows if it would have been a hit?"
