With two under his belt and one in production, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star Daniel Craig is currently in negotiations to play James Bond in five more films.

In an interview with the UK’s Sunday People, producer Michael G Wilson said that he would be interested in seeing Craig surpass Roger Moore’s seven-film record as 007. “Filming has gone very well so far and I’d love Daniel to surpass Roger’s record and do eight pictures. Daniel’s been an absolute pleasure to be around because he takes the role so seriously,” Wilson said. Ha also called Craig a “filmmaker’s dream.”

Craig is currently working on Skyfall, the 23rd Bond film and third for Craig. Wilson said that talks with Craig to continue to play the role will begin as soon as shooting for Skyfall has been completed. The actor is being paid £8 million for appearing in the film, and speculation is that he could be paid more if he appears in another Bond film.

Craig’s first two Bond films have both been major hits in the series, notes The Huffington Post. 2006’s Casino Royale made $600 million internationally. Quantum of Solace in 2008 was not well received critically across the board, but still made $800 million worldwide.

Cinemablend notes that there is one hitch to the idea that Craig could play Bond in five more films: his age. Craig is already 43 and if the three-year gap pattern between his Bond films continues, he will be close to 60 by the time of his last one.

The plot of Skyfall has been kept a secret, although Wilson did admit in the interview that Craig and director Sam Mendes hope to give it a 1960s feel as a tribute to the great Sean Connery films.
