Dark Knight Passes Spidey

Batman is top performing superhero movie, domestically, of all time.

The Dark Knight has officially become the biggest superhero movie domestically ever as it passed the first Spider-Man's mark of $403 million. The Dark Knight seems unstoppable as it hit $410 million and is still climbing. It's now Hollywood's seventh place top box office performer.

The next mark looks to be Titanic's ultimate reigning mark of $600 million. Titanic never had a bad weekend as it constantly took in $25 million each weekend for an extended period of time. Batman is taking in less each weekend, so Titanic's mark might be a long shot.

The Dark Knight has finished three consecutive weekends as number one, as it continues to clobber every box office record. Pineapple Express might try and take it on this week, but even if it does outdo the caped crusader, The Dark Knight is still taking in a ton of green at a record pace.

The Dark Knight faces some competition in the month of August and its cash intake is decreasing as the weeks progress, so only time will tell if Batman can seal the deal as the best domestic performer and steal Titanic's crown.
