Dark Knight Receives Top Honors at People's Choice Awards

The Batman film, "The Dark Knight," won five People's Choice Awards on Wednesday at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Calif.

According to CNN.com, The Dark Knight won the award for favorite movie, favorite action movie, favorite cast, and favorite on screen match-up of Christian Bale as Batman and of the late Heath Ledger as the Joker.

Another big winner was country star and past winner of American Idol, Carrie Underwood, who won three People's Choice Awards for favorite female star, favorite country song, "Last Name," and also favorite female singer.

Other winners included Adam Sandler for funniest male star, Reese Witherspoon for favorite female movie star, Kate Hudson for favorite leading lady, and Ellen DeGeneres for best talk show host.

Other films honored included the movie, 27 Dresses, The Secret Life of Bees, which starred Jennifer Hudson, and the animated film, WALL-E.

The People's Choice Awards celebrates its 35th ceremony this year and was hosted by Queen Latifah.
