The newest trailer for The Dark Knight Rises was seen on IMAX screens before the new Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol this weekend but on Monday the trailer hit the internet and fans all over the world got a better look at what Christopher Nolan is doing with this final film in the Batman series.
The trailer has been viewed on YouTube over two million times since yesterday.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the trailer is showing audiences many relevant themes of this current economic situation that Nolan is taking on with his latest film.
E! News posted the trailer and added similar remarks about the overall theme of the movie and of the new teaser trailer.
In the trailer, audiences see Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle whisper in the ear of Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne. The message she whispers sounds like a message from the 99 percent.
“You think this can last?" she says. "There’s a storm coming, Mr. Wayne. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you’re all going to wonder how you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.”
Nolan appears to be taking on all of the recent themes from 2011, the Occupy movement, the Egypt “rise” and Time Magazine’s person of the year, but Nolan is giving his take on the themes through superheroes.
Fans will have to see how all of these themes come together when the final chapter of The Dark Knight arrives in theaters this summer.
