'In the Dark’ singer Dev gives birth to a daughter

Rising singer/rapper Dev, known for her work with The Cataracs and for her own single “In the Dark” is a new mom.

The singer, 22, gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Emilia Lovely, on Dec. 9, two weeks before her due date on Christmas Eve.

“Thank you everyone for all of the love! Words can’t describe these past couple of days,” she wrote on Twitter. “I’m in so much love!”

“What a crazzyyy but beautiful week,” she added. “I'm so blessed, life is precious. My lil mama is the baddest bitch! ;)"

“She is the most beautiful thing in the world.”

Prior to the birth of Dev, full name Devin Tailes, told PopCrush she was excited to be a mom and watch her daughter grow up.

“I can’t wait until I can paint her nails and I can’t wait till she reads and talks. I’m really excited. I’m looking forward to it so much.”

Emilia Lovely’s father is Dev’s fiancé, skateboarder Jimmy Gorecki.

The birth of her daughter isn’t the only thing the singer has been eagerly anticipating. After a number of delays, she’ll release her debut album, The Night the Sun Came Up in early 2012.
